Spring break is just around the corner, and although many students will be leaving campus, some may be able to stick around and enjoy the wonderful things Easton and the Lehigh Valley have to offer – here are just a few!
Adam Sandler: 100% Fresher
Comedian, actor, producer, writer and musician Adam Sandler will be performing at the PPL Center in Center City Allentown on Saturday, March 18 at 8.p.m.. You may have seen Sandler in “Grownups,” the Netflix Original movie “Murder Mystery ,” or a whole host of other delightful comedies, and you now have the chance to see him live in the Lehigh Valley. He will be joined by special guest Rob Schneider. Sandler has been giving sold out performances in the United States and Canada over the past couple of years, and his performance 100% Fresher was released on Netflix last year. Easton Public Market
Go grab breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Easton Public Market to try a variety of foods from a number of venders. Stop by Fieldstone Coffee for some freshly-brewed iced or hot coffee and try one of the 30 types of loose leaf teas. You can also try some delicious crepes from Full of Crepe or visit Mr. Lee’s Noodles for some warm (or cold) ramen. Whatever you feel like eating, you can probably find it at Public Market! Check out their website for a full list of stands and venders. The market is open Wednesday through Saturday from 8am to 7pm and Sundays from 8am to 5pm.
Dance EXposure at SteelStacks Bethlehem
Dance EXposure is a bianual event presented by ArtsQuest and the Lehigh Valley Dance Exchange. Performers will include talented local performers and choreographers in the region. This is an opportunity for both established and emerging dancers to present their work in a supportive environment. This performance will take place tomorrow, March 14 at 8 p.m., and student discounts can be applied at the box office.
Coffee, Chocolate, and Critters
Visit the Lehigh Valley Zoo on Saturday, March 21 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for their second Coffee, Chocolate, and Critters event. You will get the opportunity to try coffee and chocolate pairings and encounter animals that come from countries that produce these goods. You will also get to learn about sustainable ways to produce and purchase coffee and chocolate along with fun animal facts! Animals seen will include Bean the Linnaeus’ Two-Toed Sloth, Roy G. Biv the Rainbow Boa and Doug the African Grey Parrot. To make this experience more sustainable, the zoo encourages you to bring your own mug or purchase an official Lehigh Valley Zoo Coffee, Chocolate, and Critters mug at the event!
Easton Farmers Market: Winter Market
On Saturday, March 14, go visit the oldest, continuous open air market in the nation. Its winter location is on Church Street, behind Easton Public Market between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Some vendors include Apple Ridge Farm (sourdough bread, baked goods, pot pies, pastured pork, bone broth, winter soups and more), Breakaway Farms (pasture-raised meat and eggs), Flour Shop Bakery (breads, pastries, cookies and savory crostini), and Scholl Orchards (apples, pears, root veggies and jarred items).
Lehigh Valley Phantoms vs. Toronto Marlies
For all the sports fans staying on campus, check out the Phantoms hockey game versus the Toronto Marlies on tomorrow, March 14 at 7:05 p.m. in the PPL Center in Allentown. The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are in the AHL Eastern Conference Atlantic Division. You can get tickets to this game at their website.
D&L Trail
It is spring, and the weather is nice, so you might as well enjoy it and take a walk on the 165 mile Delaware and Lehigh Canal Trail, which goes by the National Canal Museum. If you’re feeling bored with walking, think about renting a bike from Genesis Bicycles on Bushkill Street, and see how far the trail can take you.
