Men’s Cross Country

Oct 28 at Patriot League Championship

Lafayette posted an 8th place finish in the 8K ahead of Colgate and Loyola. Senior Kelvin Serem was the top finisher for the Leopards with a time of 25:42.94, good for 40th place overall. Freshman Michael Neeson finished 63rd with a with a time of 26:42.5. Junior David Sadvary, senior Matthew Weintraub and junior Mark DiPaola finished 71st, 72st and 73nd, respectively, to round out the top 75 for the team.

Men’s Soccer (4-13-0) (3-5-0)

Oct 25 at Navy

W, 3-2

It was the Evan Vare show last Wednesday as the sophomore forward scored all three goals for Lafayette in their win over Navy. The Midshipmen had the momentum early, outscoring the Leopards 2-1 in the first half. Vare netted two goals in the final 12 minutes of the game to secure the win and some much-needed Patriot League points for Lafayette.

Oct 28 vs American

L, 2-1

Despite outshooting American 13-8, Lafayette couldn’t tie it up late and were defeated on Senior Day. Vare netted the only goal for the Leopards in the opening minutes of the second half, bringing his season total to seven goals. Senior Brad Seeber had two saves in the loss.

Women’s Cross Country

Oct 28 at Patriot League Championship

The Leopards finished 9th in the 6K at the Patriot League Championship. Freshman Gabrielle Galletta had the fastest time for the team, with a new PR of 22:23.7 and a 35th place finish. Junior Emily Moore also finished in the top 50, and sophomore Margaret Schiazza had a new PR of 22:51.1 for a 54th place finish.

Field Hockey (7-11) 2-4)

Oct 28 vs Holy Cross

L, 4-1

Field hockey’s playoff hopes were dashed on Senior Day with the team’s loss to Patriot League foe Holy Cross. Freshman midfielder and defender Anna Steps was the only Leopard to score in a game where Lafayette outshot the Crusaders 22-10.

Oct 29 at Temple

W,  4-1

With a second-half push and balanced scoring, Lafayette cruised to an easy victory over Temple. Freshman midfielder and forward Audrey Sawers opened up the scoring for Lafayette with the first goal of her collegiate career. Senior forward Rosie Shanks netted the Leopards’ second goal in the early minutes of the second half before Temple scored their first and only goal. Steps and junior midfielder Theresa Delahanty put the game out of reach with a goal each.

Women’s Soccer (5-9-2) (3-5-1)

Oct 28 at Loyola

W, 1-0

Junior forward Alex Stanford netted the game winner in the 66th minute to send Lafayette to the Patriot League playoffs for the second straight year. Freshman Maggie Pohl and senior Kelly O’Brien had two saves apiece in goal in the win.

Oct 31 at Boston University

L, 1-0

A late goal by Boston sunk the Leopards and their chance at a postseason run. Solid defense on both sides kept the game scoreless until the 75th minute when BU used a header to notch the game-winning goal. Freshman Maggie Pohl had four saves and senior Kelly O’Brien had two.

Volleyball (5-20) (2-10)

Oct 28 vs Lehigh

L, 3-0

Lafayette lost in straight sets to Lehigh, 25-14, 30-28, 25-21. Lehigh was dominant in the first set, while the second and third were hotly contested affairs. Lafayette couldn’t get the decisive points down the stretch needed to pick up any set wins against the Mountain Hawkes.

Oct 29 vs Bucknell

L, 3-1

Lafayette stole the second set away from the Bison but dropped the match in four sets, 12-25, 25-23, 22-25, 14-25. Sophomore Julia Howard had 31 assists and freshman Lexie Caraveo had 14 digs in the loss.
