From our perch on College Hill, we as a campus community can often feel isolated, a world unto itself. But there is a world outside campus. There are many opportunities for excursions off the hill, to get out into the Lehigh Valley and beyond, to experience all this region has to offer.

For those students who do not have the opportunity to directly experience the arts in their day-to-day class schedules but enjoy being artistic, Art Fusion in Whitehall, Pa. might offer a creative outlet. An approximately 30-minute drive from the college, Art Fusion is the perfect place for students to go to escape campus and explore their artistic abilities, no matter their experience.

Since its opening in 2006, Art Fusion has welcomed and instructed customers in projects of various art forms. It remains the Lehigh Valley’s only walk-in studio offering multiple art forms, according to the studio’s Facebook page. The studio offers “Paint Your Own Pottery,” canvas painting, wine glass painting, mosaic art, candle sundae making, glass fusing, pottery wheels and clay hand building, according to Art Fusion’s website. However, reservations are only required for instructed canvas and wine glass painting workshops.

Brightly decorated with bright blue walls and artwork at every glance, Art Fusion is the perfect place for students to gather with friends and create. According to the website, customers simply pick their project, browse Art Fusion’s “Inspiration Station,” choose their colors or materials and get to work.

Aside from being an easy process, the projects at Art Fusion are also relatively inexpensive. The average price for a project ranges from about $12.00 to $25.00, but most pricing depends on the type of art project. “Paint Your Own Pottery” charges a flat studio fee of $6.00 per guest and pottery pieces range from an average of $10.00 to $22.00, according to the studio’s Facebook page.

Besides Tuesdays, Art Fusion is open every day of the week to customers. The studio is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 12 p.m to 8 p.m and Friday from 12 p.m to 9 p.m. On Saturdays, Art Fusion is open from 10 a.m to 9 p.m and on Sundays from 12 p.m to 5 p.m. The studio is located at 2580 MacArthur Road in Whitehall.
