Men’s Basketball (8-20)

Feb. 19 vs. Lehigh

L, 81-55

On Senior Day, the Leopards fell to the Mountain Hawks as they couldn’t come back from an early deficit. Senior Nick Lindner scored 15 in his final game at Kirby Sports Center.

 

Feb. 22 @ Bucknell

L, 94-64

The Leopards were unable to overcome the Patriot League regular season champions. Freshman Lukas Jarrett had a career high in points with 13.

 

Women’s Basketball (2-25)

Feb. 18 @ Lehigh

L, 69-60

The Lehigh bench could not be stopped, scoring 46 of the Mountain Hawks points on the afternoon. Senior Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby tied her career high with 21 points.

 

Feb. 22 vs. Bucknell

L, 79-65

On a poor shooting night (39.1 percent from the field), the Leopards were not able to beat the Bison. Freshman Olivia Gumbs continued her stellar second half of the season with 15 points and six rebounds.

 

Track and Field

Patriot League Indoor Championships @ Boston University

Men: 7 of 9; Women: 7 of 10

Senior Drew Davis had the best performance for the women taking first in the 400m, a new indoor personal best and an ECAC qualifier. Junior Sam Cutrone’s fourth-place showing in the heptathlon was the top highlight for the men.

 

Men’s Tennis (2-6)

Feb. 19 @ Washington & Jefferson

W, 8-1

The Leopards picked up their first win of the season, winning five of the six singles matches and all three of their doubles matches.

 

Feb. 19 vs. St. Francis

L, 7-0

After playing earlier in the day, the Leopards dropped their evening bout with St. Francis, failing to grab a point in singles or doubles.

 

Feb. 20 @ Mercyhurst

L, 6-1

Junior Mason Keel was the only Leopard to win a point on the day, defeating his opponent in the third singles match.

 

Women’s Tennis (2-4)

Feb. 18 vs. St. Francis

L, 6-1

The Leopards struggled and were only able to get a point by default in a singles match.

 

Men’s Lacrosse (0-2)

Feb. 17 @ Wagner

L, 9-8

In a game that went back and forth, the Seahawks were the ones that came out on top. Senior Jason Sands led the Leopards with four points, scoring one goal and adding three assists.

 

Women’s Lacrosse (2-1)

Feb. 16 at Binghamton

W, 17-14

Senior Kristen Wilhelmsen scored eight goals, the most by a Lafayette women’s lacrosse player since 2001.

 

Feb. 21 vs. Rutgers

In their home opener, the Leopards fell to a team that beat them by 12 last year. Wilhelmsen scored four times, while the sophomore trio of Hannah Davey, Jane Kirby and Emma Novick scored two goals each.

 

Swimming and Diving

Feb. 15-18 Patriot League Championship @ Bucknell

Men: 10th place; Women: 10th place

Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams struggled at the Patriot League Championships, but sophomore Brian Ross and senior Issaiah Coldren both qualified for the conference finals.

 

Baseball (1-3)

Feb. 17 vs. Notre Dame

W, 10-2

Senior pitcher Trevor Houck went eight innings and only gave up one hit as the Leopards beat the Fighting Irish in their season opener in San Antonio.

 

Feb. 17 vs. Saint Louis

L, 24-6

In their second game of the day, the Leopards fell to the Billikens. Junior Steven Cohen led the Leopards offensively, collecting three hits on the evening.

 

Feb. 18 vs. Incarnate Word

L, 4-3 (11)

The Leopards blew a three run eighth inning lead and ultimately fell to the Cardinals in extra innings. Freshman Brett Kreyer dazzled in his first collegiate start, throwing six innings of one hit baseball.

 

Feb. 19 vs. Incarnate Word

L, 6-5

The Leopards comeback came up one run short as they fell to the Cardinals for the second day in a row. Junior Luke Robinson went 3-3 with two doubles and a run scored.
