Women’s Soccer (3-0-1)

Aug. 19 vs. Delaware State

W, 4-0

The Leopards tallied a total of 20 shots, 13 of which were on goal, to win the season opener against the Hornets. Senior Melissa Lynskey netted two goals while her classmates Joanna Scotti and Kaelin King scored the other two.

 

Aug. 21 vs. Siena

T, 1-1 (2OT)

Lafayette had the lead after a goal by senior Elizabeth Scoda, but with just two minutes left Siena tied the game off a lucky bounce off of the crossbar. Neither team was able to score after two overtimes and the game ended in a tie.

 

Aug. 25 @ Binghamton

W, 1-0

Senior Monica Weiss scored her first career goal in the seventh minute and the Leopards remained undefeated with the win over the Bearcats. The defense held Binghamton to only one shot on goal.

 

Aug. 28 vs. LIU Brooklyn

W, 3-1

The Leopards set a women’s soccer program record by staying undefeated through their first four games after defeating the Blackbirds. Lynskey netted her second career hat trick and just the third for the program since 2002.

 

Men’s Soccer (0-2)

Aug. 26 vs. St. Francis Brooklyn

L, 1-0 (2OT)

Lafayette suffered a heartbreaking loss in their season opener against the Terriers, losing by a goal in double overtime. Despite only allowing two shots on goal, the Leopards were ultimately unable to capitalize on offense to win the game.

 

Aug. 30 at Albany

L,1-0

Playing on the Great Danes football field, the Leopards lost their second straight game by one goal. Unlike the first game, however, they conceded a goal early on and were unable to overcome the deficit throughout the game. Albany outshot Lafayette 9-7.

 

Field Hockey (1-0)

Aug. 26 vs. Fairfield

W, 3-2

Freshmen Lisa van de Geest and Rosa Jonckheer scored in their first career games, and junior Rosie Shanks also added a goal. The Leopards outshot the Stags 11-3 in route to winning their first game of the season.

 

Volleyball (0-1)

Aug. 30 vs. LaSalle

L, 3-0

The women’s volleyball team fell to the Explorers in their season opener. Despite trading points at the beginning of the first set, the Leopards lost in straight sets.
