Successful completion of program will clear criminal

The four men charged with burglary and vandalism of Lafayette’s Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity house, including two Lafayette students, have entered into a program that would keep the incident off their permanent record provided they complete six months of probation, according to an article in The Morning Call.

As has been previously reported in The Lafayette, the four men broke in during a multi-million dollar renovation of the house, stealing tools, spray-painting the basement, and smashing freezers with a sledgehammer on the morning of July 12, 2014.

The four were charged with stealing $4,482 of property, including tools being used for the renovation.

Faris Chugthai ’15, Gregory Flynn ’17, then-senior Cody Harnish ’14 and associate Alex Martin all received the benefit of the “First Offender Program”, according to The Morning Call, which will expunge the incident from their record under the provisions of the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program.

All of the accused except Flynn will be held responsible for restitution payments for the damages, according to the Morning Call.
