Lafayette’s list of “to do’s” for the perfect Halloweek

Instead of dressing up one night a year and knocking on doors, hopeful that neighbors will have their favorite candy, college students everywhere extend Halloween to a week long occasion. Halloween becomes “Halloweek,” as students plan their costumes and attend countless events to get in the spirit of the holiday. Here are some of the events happening at Lafayette within the next week to help students celebrate.

Friday, October 24 – 7 p.m.
Lafayette Activities Forum is hosting a trip to the Eastern State Penitentiary for a haunted evening. Preregistration is required for the event.

Monday, October 27 – 7 to 10 p.m.
Phi Kappa Psi and Delta Gamma will host a haunted house at the Phi Kappa Psi House. There is a child friendly version from 7 to 8 p.m. and a version for the general public from 8 to 10 p.m. The event is $3 for tickets purchased in Farinon in advance and $5 at the door. All proceeds from this haunted carnival will be donated to The Delta Gamma Foundation, Service for Sight, and The Boys and Girls Club of America.

Thursday, October 30 – 4:30 to 7 p.m.
There will be a Halloween Climb at the rock climbing wall in the gym filled with Halloween themed games, treats and a costume contest.

Thursday, October 30 – 6 to 8 p.m.
The Newman Catholic Association of Lafayette will be hosting a dinner event, co-sponsored by the Hispanic Association of Lafayette, for Dia de Los Muertes at the Newman House on 119 McCartney St. Authentic Mexican food (roast chicken and tacos) will be served. Students can wear their best costumes for the chance to win a costume contest.

On Saturday, November 1 – 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
The International Students Association, the Association of Black Collegians, the Asian Cultural Association, the Lafayette African and Caribbean Students Association, and the Lafayette Drug and Alcohol Peer Advisors will be hosting a Halloween Party at the Spot. There will be food, music, dancing, and a costume contest.

Saturday, November 1 – 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Alpha Phi and Phi Kappa Psi will be hosting a Halloween party for all students at the Phi Kappa Psi house. There will be a suggested donation of $3 to $5 at the door. All proceeds will go to the Alpha Phi Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club of America.
