The Lafayette Entertainment Committee was awarded a distinction earlier this week by the National Association for the Advancement of White Rappers for their “Proven and continued support of the white rapper community,” read a press release.

The NAAWR’s statement cited Spring Concert Artists of the past four years: “Lafayette has shown a dedication to lily white frat-rap that is nearly unequaled. Artists like Hoodie Allen, Sam Adams, and Timeflies would struggle to make it without continued support from schools like Lafayette.”

LEC representatives, when presented with the plaque (a bronze-cast image of Vanilla Ice), glanced around nervously and hastily shoved the award away.

“I don’t know how I feel about this,” president Joanna Yung ’15 said. “Actually, I know I feel pretty uncomfortable. I thought this was the Hoff Awards? Where are we?”

The NAAWR did express disappointment that LAF had Wale as the headliner in 2011, but called it a “rare misstep,” saying, “Hot Chelle Rae and Matt & Kim more than make up for it.”

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis could not be reached for comment, but a representative said they are tired and sad and wish people would stop hating them.

“Read the text to Kendrick,” the rep said.
